Hi there, does anyone know if i am transferring my children from their current school at the end of this year - as in next Wednesday - am i entitled to request a copy of their records to give to the new school?

The school principal is a bit of a control freak that likes to exclude parents as much as possible so i can foresee a problem with getting the records. ;)

The usual procedure is that the new school requests the information from the existing school, when the child has transferred. The parent would obviously give consent to the new school to make the request.

Just a word of advice, while you may have your own opinion on the school your child currently attends, I'm sure you wouldn't speak negatively about it to the new school. It may not reflect very well on you, as I'm sure you'll already know.
Good luck and I hope everything works out really well..

Thanks for that - kinda what i thought but was hoping it wasn't; i want the present lot to know as little as possible!
And thanks for the heads up, i am avoiding any negativity with the new school - it's like with jobs isn't it? the last thing to do is moan or they'll think it's you that's the problem:rolleyes:

What records do you want?Generally a copy of the latest report and standardized test results is all a new school would seek.

You say you want 'the present lot to know as little as possible'. I presume you've informed the current school that you will be moving your children?
