letting xbox live lapse

hi all my xbox live is due to lapse in July. im not too sure i want to renew it straight away, the games im playing, will just be doing SP for a while if i do so, does it affect my gamertag or anything like that? will i still be able to start on XBL with no problems in a few months?

Nope it wont affect it at all you can just renew it when you want and convert it back to a gold account from a silver. You might want to check its not set to auto renew, if you have credit card details on xbox then they will auto renew it for you unless you call them and get them to cancel the auto renewal.
