Hi, the wife is just off the phone to ell me that her work car loses acceleration while she is driving. SHe explained that her foot goes almost to the floor to get a response when shes in motion.

98 Toyota Corolla Automatic 1.3 petrol

anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be, until she can get it to the garage... which will probably not be until next week...
    cheers

could be loads of things, I wonder if the AUTOMATIC is the clue? (kick-down not operating perhaps?)

judging from the description of the problem, it could well be the kickdown. How long can she expect to drive with this before the car becomes undrive-able (her work is 60 miles away), thanks for the quick reply

Sounds like 'limp-home' mode. Go to a mechanic a.s.a.p.

98 Corolla's don't do "limp" mode, deffo a trip to a decent mechanic's is called for, and asap.
