Short Term Internet

I need to get broadband for only around 3 months and am finding it hard enough to do so without having to sell my first born. One promising option seems to be the vodafone unlimited bill pay plan. €25 for unlimited data usage. Has anybody any experience of this? Also how long is the minimum contract and what penalties there are if I cancel before then?

Minimum contract for all fixed line broadband is 12 months (to the best of my knowledge, occasionally a provider might have a 6 month student special, but nothing shorter than that). I'm not 100% sure what the early termination fee would be, but I'd imagine about €100, it would be worth ringing up Vodafone to ask though. Additionally you may have to pay to ship back any equipment to them. Finally if you are in accommodation that has never had a phone line, you will have to pay for it to be installed which will cost an extra €100 and may take up to 40 days (for the line and bb activation) to complete.

All in all an expensive route to get broadband for 3 months. If you aren't a heavy user and you are able to get reception, it might be cheaper for you to get a PAYG 3G modem which will have no minimal contract.

Unlimited data usage doesn't exist, so if you're looking for something weith even a high data cap, you won't find it on PAYG at all. The largest you're likely to get is 10GB, though more likley to be in the range of 5-7.5GB.

Your only option for PAYG Internet access is one of the 3G operators, which one you pick is a matter of opinion and whatever one (if any) actually works.
