Interview for company I used to work for.

I am currently working for a very small company. I really like the job and the people I work with are lovely, however, it's a small company with little room for promotion and I worried re job security. I am here a year.

When I was out of work early last year I registered with a recruitment agency but never heard from them.

I got a text yesterday about some roles coming up in a large company in my area of work. I called them and it turns out I worked for this company a number of years ago. I was very young at the time and didn't get along very well with the manager (nobody did) the last straw came when she wouldn't give me time off for a family occasion. I didn't really want to leave but I was stubborn and immature and I did.

My concern about going for the interview now is a) I think she still works there and b ) I only lasted just about 6 months.

I don't want to make a show of myself in the interview, but how would I handle the question of 'Why did you leave?' !!
It's a good company and there would be lots of opportunities if I stuck it out this time!

    Any advice or opinions?
    Thanks a lot!

Personally I'd be honest, the explanation you gave here shows you have actually matured since then.

At some stage in the process it will come to light that you have worked there before, and they will most likely speak to your previous manager (I have done this in the past), and get the real story.

I had a similar situation not so long ago worked for a company years ago got on very well with eveyone left to further my career and just had enough of working there they asked me back to a more senior role a few years later i went back and it was a nightmare biggest regret in my life

not saying that it will be a bad experience for you this time round but you left for a reason and sometimes things are best left in the past what happens if you leave your job your in now go back there and it doesnt work out with the job situation like it is now is it likely that you will be able to get out or will you be stuck after all you where there 6 months last time before you left what happens if same happens again this time after 6months??

just stop and look at what you have now and think of all the possibilities before jumping in :o

So you thought you burned your bridges and now you want to get back. It's a pretty good lesson.. leave every job on good terms!

If you really want the job you should apply for it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

By the sounds of it you don't even have an interview.

I personally believe that as soon as they find out you worked there before and then left because of a spat with the manager you will have zero chance of being rehired. Why would they?

Take off the rose tinted glasses, and smell the sh|t. You left because your manager was a b|tch. If you go back there, chances are you may be under her again (hahahaha :P), and your life will become hell once more. Nice little company job now will have gone, and you'll have a miserable few years of life.

    I'd say stay.
