Forerunner 305 Split times

How do you go about getting splits set up on the watch. For example if i am running a 13 miler i want to look back and see how i performed over each mile. I know you can hit the lap button for every mile of your run but i loose my current overall time whilst out on a run which i always want visible. That and it's a pain watching out for each mile to click at the right time whilst running.

Ideally what i am looking for is an automatic setting were it continues to monitor my overall time but when i download the run after it splits it out by mile intervals.

As you can tell i am pretty clueless when it comes to technology and gadgets.

    Thanks in advance

Set it up to auto-lap every '1' mile.
    1. Press [mode] to access the main Menu
    2. Select Training > Training Options > Auto Lap.
    3. In the Auto Lap Trigger Field, select By Distance to specif a value.
    4. Change the Lap At value to 01.00 Miles.

The user manual is online ans is handy for searching. You can find it here.

(don't know why I bothered answering this when Krusty is around)

You need to set the AutoLap feature, so that each mile is a new lap.
Press mode to open the main menu
Select Training - Training Options - AutoLap
Set By Distance, and a mile as the distance (I think this is the default)

After every mile your pace for that mile will pop up briefly, but the display will stick to overall time and distance. When you upload the run the splits will be shown.

Rumors are that Garmin are going to remove the owners manual and replace it with your email address :D

Never mind - I figured it out, will try it on my run tonight!!!

heffsarmy thanks for the tip on SportTracks. I have just downloaded it and imported all data and it's miles better than Garmin TC.

Thanks to KC and raycun, I can now see my split times too :D. RTFM is def an acronym that can be shouted at me!!
