Hi guys, i have a Fujii Finepix J10, the front of the camera was stepped on and now when i turn it on, it makes this loud whirring noise!! I've figured the lense is slightly off centre and think this is why the whirring noise is happening...Can anyone please tell me, can it be fixed? Or should i get a replacement? The crux of the matter is the camera is not mine and want to have it sorted before i tell the owner....Cheers..

your chances of getting it repaired are limited - there are so many different makes and models of compact camera that parts are hard to get. i suspect your best bet is the replacement route.

The replacement route would be the best option for you.
If it was stepped on there would be a lot of broken gears and parts from the lens mechanism which really wouldnt be worth the cost of fixing on a camera of that value.

Buy a new one and sell the old carcass on ebay as faulty for spares or repairs and you will knock a little off the cost of the replacement.

people are always buying broken cameras on ebay for parts and it is free to list if you start the bid for under €1.50 I believe.
