Slight squeak when on near full lock

    Hey all.

I own a Mark 4 VW Golf TDI from 2000.

When going around a 90 degree left hand turn in second gear (that kind of speed) I get a slight squeak coming from the left. My windows are open on both sides but it could be from the right hand side for all I know because there isnt much on my right for the sound to bounce off. Much more on the left for that.

Anyway, its almost like a brake squeal but Im not braking at the time.

A lot of people seem to suffer from it on mark 4's but I cant see anyone pin it down on something solid.

I have read about CV's, power steering pumps, gearbox oil.

    Thanks
    bbk

It is probably the back plate rubbing on the disc.

I know that my one squeaks when it is dry, it is the anti-roll bar links afaik

Is the back plate a serious jobby? It's due a service in July/August but Id hope to push it to September because Im going to Belfast for college and a full service seems cheaper there. Should that be ok?

Im still doing my service cost research so I may end up doing it down here too.

It happened again today. It sounds more like a belt of some sort.
Ill keep the ears on the case.

Sounds like the power steering belt needs to be replaced

the cv boots squeak on vw's, (the hard plastic ones) spray wd40 on them and see does the noise go away
