Hey, I'll be traveling from Hanoi (Vietnam) to Beijing (China) around late February 2011 for a month. I'm wondering if anyone can offer some tips on what to see and do between Hanoi and Beijing. I'm planning to visit Hong Kong and maybe Macau on the way but if there are any useful tips I'd greatly appreciate it also what's the deal with multiple entry visas?

    Thanks :)

Beijing, Xi'An, Shanghai, Guelin, Yangshuo, Hong Kong, Macau, Philippines, (back to Macau), Honoi

    Loved all of the above.

Dante, i'm doing a similar chinese itinerary soon. How did you find travelling between the major cities? Did you get trains and if so how did you book? Was there much of a language barrier?

    thanks!

    Heya,

Ya the language barrier WILL be a pain in the arse. Fortunately in all of the hostels I stayed in, the receptionists spoke reasonably good english and they booked train tickets for me.
Went everywhere by train except for Guellin to Yangshuo as its just a two hour bus journey.
    Lonely Planet is your bible.
    Enjoy...its a fascinating country!
