Hi, Has anyone found a successful treatment for Rosacea? Someone posted here before about a laser treatment they had done but didn't reply to my PM asking for more details! I really hope someone can help.

    Thanks.

Would recommend the consultant in the Hermitage, my wife was unsuccessfully treated for Rosacea for years without success. After seeing the consultant in Hermitage and then in his clinic in James it turns out she did'nt have rosacea but suffers from high flushing. Now referred to the laser clinic in Vincent's once a month and getting very good results.

Is that in Dublin? Did she need referral from a GP? What type of laser is she getting? There are a lot of different types.

Also in relation to the high flushing id this the same as hot flushes? I'm too young for that and have had this for about 10 years!

Also, how much is the treatment setting you back? Does she be sore or marked for a while after the treatment?

    Thanks

I was prescribed rosex cream, but it didn't really work to be honest. I think stress may have a lot to do with it. However I think I may have discovered what causes it for me.
Coffee! I started eliminating different things from my diet that I thought may cause it. When I stoped the coffee,it cleared up!:)

I still have a small espresso in the morning at home, blak. But that's it and it's worked! Happy days!:D
There are different triggers for different people. I am convinced though that it is dietary related.

Thanks everyone. I went to my GP and will be getting a referral to dermatologist. I'm sick of hiding behind my make-up! I'll post with any progress. Wish me luck.

Hi, there. Ive had rosacea for last 3 years. the first year i didnt even know what it was, just though red skin. Then it started swelling and went from bad to extremely bad. My face was covered in little blister-like spots, very painful. went to my GP and she prescribed antibiotics. I was on and off on different kind of antibiotics that she kept giving me, and nothing help! Until i moved to wexfrod and changed my GP. The first thing he said to me was to get rid of all the antibiotics, and prescribed a Pill!! Thats right! pill! it took about 3-5 weeks, but everything cleared up! he also said to avoid sun, heat, spicy food. Im only using make up and cleansing products for sensitive skin. La Rocha Have cleansing gel and moisturizer for rosacea sufferers. GP also said that you cant ger rid of this condition, but you can control it! i still have the scars to remind that it can come back any time if i slip. So i just keep it up! Also apple cider vinegar is good to take (delude it with water) glass once a day, keeps your acid levels in balance.

Did try laser treatment, but found it way too expensive for soo little outcome.

    Hope this helped.

neila13 what pill are you on?

What type of laser did you get done and by who (dermatoligist/beautician/laser clinic)? How many times did you have it done?

How much apple cider vinegar do you put in a glass of water?

Did you ever see a dermatoligist?

Dianette is the name of the Pill i'm on at the moment.

I went to Harley Medical Group in Dublin. Did it only once, paid 200 euro, and the nurse said there are no guaranties that anything will change, just keep trying. so i wasn't prepared to give away 200 every time just for trying.
Im sure laser treatments can do wonders on conditions that are treatable and not coming back. But i dont see any point of doing this for rosacea, as there are plenty of risks for it to come back. Seems to me it flyers up during winter months more the any other time.

i use 2-3 desert spoons of apple cider vinegar on regular half glass

Ive seen dermatologist, but they keep prescribing antibiotics, etc.

Oh, forgot to mention. I am also using gel called Rozex everyday prescribed by my GP.

I tried Dianette years ago and had to come off it. I was getting seriously depresses because if it. I never felt so low in my life and went back to my normal self after coming off it thank god. And it had no affect on my skin anyway! I read recently Dianette shouldn't be used long term because of the side effects - I think this was in an article about a woman who died after being on it for years. Maybe you should do some research on it and chat to a chemist and doctor about it.

Ive been using it for a year now, and i have no side effects at all. And it did help my skin :)
im not saying that would help every one as we all are different, and something that works for one doent mean will work for other. So this is a reason why there isnt just 1 cure for each condition, but several. :)

But it can't be a long term solution for you from what I read. I can't remember where the article was but I would look into it if I were you.

Ill have a look, thanx. My mom also had problems with her skin, not as drastic as i did, but bad enough. And she said that after having me her skin cleared up. And ive heard from few women that after having a baby the skin clears up. Dont know how much truth is in that tho.

Heya OP I have suffered with rosacea in the past, I haven't tried the laser treatment but I found a combination of the pill (I'm on yasmin) and changing my make up and my daily cleansing products helped a great deal. I discovered through basic trial and error that the cleansers and especially toners I was using caused it to flair up more. I now use cleansing milk and lotions that are soap free and for sensitive skin I also replaced my toners with rosewater you can find this in all chemists (its pharmacy brand in a brown bottle). I always check as well that make-up is oil free.

A few years ago I also heard of a man (in Meath I think) that used to treat people's complaints with different mixtures of natural herbs. I know of one girl who had a severe case of Rosacea and acne who went to him and her skin cleared up she couldn't recommend him highly enough. (Someone else on here may know who he is)

Heya it came back to me last night that he was somehow connected to GAA and after some Googling I found his name is Sean Boylan in Dunboyne Co. Meath.

At the moment I am rotating my cleanser around I user Garnier Fresh Essential Cleansing Gel (soap free) and Nivea Daily Essentials Cleansing Cream sensitive.
and I use the botanics (Boots) Soothing eye make up remover. I don't wear a hell of a lot of make up but when I do I use Revlon Colour stay foundation sparingly I never use sponges but keep brushes clean. I think in my case though it was definitely the toners and find rosewater great.

Another thing I find is to be careful with hair products...if you have a fringe/ long hair products can irritate your forehead and back of neck, I stopped putting mousse and straightening serums in my hair and I am careful with hairspray.

OMG, thanks Rainbow_brite. It's so nice when someone bothers to try to give you the info you need rather than a general reply!

I've googles his name etc and will try to contact him this week and make an appointment. I'll post back with any info I can.

No probs, hope it goes well if you go, as far as I know he went through the girls diet etc. with her and she had been in and out of doctors using different antibiotics. She used to get large spots (like boils) on her face as well and hers cleared up great. Its not for everyone because as I said the pill and a change of products worked for me, but it wouldn't do any harm looking him up. Best of luck :)

Rainbow_brite do you know if he put her on herbs as well? if so were they ones you boil (tried that years ago but didn't keep it up) or more like a medicine type of thing where you would take a spoonful a day or something?

I am not 100% sure exactly what she did but i'm sure the herbs were taken orally maybe like a drink or something as opposed to rubbing it on to the area.

I have rocacea and I'm really suffering this past week with the lovely sunny weather we've been having. I was prescribed Rosex before and it did work quite well, I will try a few remedies I have read above..
Also, regarding cleansers and moisturisers.. I find the Simple cleanser and the light moisturiser really good. But my skin always gets really dry and flaky after an hour or two.
My face absolutely burns and stings in the hot weather, its horrible :(

Hi Mood, just wondering how you got on and if you managed to contact the herbalist?

I suffer from the condition myself and it is horrible and depressing and am thinking of going down this herbalist route. The pill I am on is Yasmin. I have taken antibiotics in the past too. My GP thinks there might be a link between this and yeast infections I've suffered from. She wants to refer me to a dietician. She prescribed me the Rosex too. She seems reluctant to refer me to a dermatologist though which is frustrating. She also seems to think all I need to do is keep my skin moisturised which I do. She gave me emulsifying ointment to use over my moisturser at night.

Your experience or anyones experience with this herbalist would be greatly appreciated if you could share it.

    Thanks in advance. x

I haven't yet. I tried it years ago (different herbalist) and it didn't work. Maybe I didn't use it for long enough. The herbs I used I had to boil and drink - horrible. It stank the house out as well! It would be hard to go down that route again as I'm sharing a house with others!

I might just call him as maybe his herbs can be taken in tablet form or something. I would love to get some kind of laser done as I think it would be a more permanent solution.

I would go to the dietician if I were you but would also want to see a dermatologist. Just keep asking your GP or get a referral from a different GP.
