With all the drama there, forgot about the NZ game.
    Drew with Paraguay, great stuff.

NZ leave the WC finishing ahead of Italy and most importantly unbeaten....

Remarkable achievement, fair play to all of them. Certainly not the whipping boys they were expected to be.

Arguably they have performed better than their rugby union compatriots ever have at a major event! :pac:

Yeah, well done NZ - they were heroic against Italy

Agree with others. Fair play to NZ.

Before the tournament a lot of people were criticizing how NZ could be there instead of some bigger teams, but they've shown that they deserved to be at the world cup

They did as well as Ireland in 1990. Exact same record I think. they might be shorter than 500/1 next time out. Good show lads!

Mark Paston was their Player of the Tournament for me. He was only in the team because Glen Moss was suspended but he was heroic throughout.

Delighted to see Shane Smeltz hit the net after finising top scorer in the A-League for the last two seasons.

    Whipping boys me arse!

Fantastic WC for a nation with so few professional players to pick from! Going through the tournament unbeaten, and also today's game against Paraguay was the first time they ever kept a clean sheet in a WC game!

Really wanted them to get through, but they can hold their heads up high. Hopefully this encourages a few more of them down there to pick up a football and stop shagging those sheep!!

    Gotta love the underdogs.

Great performances throughout the competition, really looked like they could ship a few goals but to finish unbeaten is a fantastic acheivement. Should boost the profile of football in NZ but it will take a long way to rival the oval ball.

I did say New Zealand would do better in another thread. For once I was right.

Fair play to them. As for Italy.........
