You would need at least 107hp. Remember that a tractor will loose some of it power as the years go by plus you are carring 2 bales.

Haven't seen any Fusion worked on less than 130hp - and most have been on 150hp+. 107 HP might power it, but it will be hard on it. Also, you'll need the extra HP to pull it. Its heavy and not the sort of thing that you want to get stuck with.

id say 107hp would be in very favourable conditions on level ground it would do it alright but it would be more a back up tractor if i was doing it and put it on something over 120hp definately that way she wouldnt be dropping to many revs when she came under pressure

Was chatting my contactor about that a few weeks back - he has 170 horses in front of his fusion - he wouldnt use anything less. otherwise, bales will not be packed. He makes a great bale too!

how do horses turn the PTO?;)

Would it not be cheaper and easier to use a tractor?

Colmm23 and Kingofthethirdyears the childrens creche is at the back of the forum. They have Roly Tractors and trailers and diggers in the sand pit. They cater for up to 12 years of age. You'll have a great time!!

Our contractor has recently obtained a Fusion and has upgraded to a 150hp MF to pull it. Said anything lese else would not be strong enough.

Also, you have to think about the water in the bales if the summer came wet, youd be pulling 2 ton.

    Hi John,
Horse power will depend on you requirements/ ground conditions and tractor type.

    Requirements
    Bale Density
    Chopped or un-chopped bales
    Machine Output per hour

    Ground Conditions
    Flat or Hilly

    Tractor
Oil system on the tractor - if the tractor has load sensing hydraulics it can surrive on 10-15 hp less as te oil will shut on and off when not in use.

Most contractors in Ireland use 130hp plus on load sensing. In other countries I have seen Fusion working on 115-120 hp tractors which have load sensing.

Output on 115 load sensing would be 40-45 bales an hour.

that 105hp tractor would be good enough for a f550 we have an f550 on a 140 hp and i pack the bales good and when you let the bale out of chamber you can hear the load coming off the tractor. a fusion weighs nearly 6 tonne and when you have two bales on that as well that 8 odd tonne and your nt pulling that on a road your pulling that in a field and thats nt easy. even an f550 are 3 and a half tonne

if u want output and comfort u need 150+ hp pref on ls hydraulics saves on hp and heating ur backend of the tractor that is

Do you mean engine power or PTO power? :-)

Iv been drivin them for a couple of years nw and would defo say 160-170hp is required and these can be put under pressure on hi ground wit wet conditions!

It's not only horsepower you need for a Fusion but plenty weight too. While working on hilly ground it can bully the tractor all over the place if you don't have the weight to hold it. Definately need load sensing hydraulics too or you will be losing too much HP by having the hydraulics running constantly. Safely looking at 150hp or if you are on hilly or heavy ground I'd push it over 170hp

Dose anyone know what would be the widest tyres you can fit onto a fusion 2 baler Mchale say 650/50r22.5 but was wondering can a BKT 800/45 r26.5 fit onto it. Overall diameter of a 650/50 r 22.5 tyre is around 1222 mm and overall diameter of the BKT 800/45 r26.5 tyre is 1354 mm .Some contractors put on double tyres for wet years or very wet fields This baler would be used for my own use only
    Thanks
