Hiya, anybody any ideas on this box , looks the part and at only 55 euro seems a bargain for a HD box with pvr function.

looks kind of cheap build quality, plus you will likely have to pay import duty/tax which will add around 25%

doesnt output 1080p only up to 1080i

saying all that, might still be cheapest box with pvr funtions

DTT isn't even Satellite HD

BD player or games console 1920 x1080p

Satellite 1920 x1080i

DTT 1440 x 1080i anamorphic WS.

"i" is same resolution as "p" for static content. "p" is only an advantage for very rapidly moving/changing content.

I'd sooner buy on ebay something specialist from Hong Kong / China /Singapore etc than Generic low budget stuff from what seems to be the Hong Kong equivalent of Dixons.

You'll get hit for VAT and €6 An Post customs handling charge. Above possibly €120 there may be additional customs charges.

Its ordered anyway and sure i will let you know what its like when i get it , i bought many items from dealextreme mostly pc parts and phones, great value if you are prepared to wait two weeks for shipping, all items are always marked as gift and if there are custom charges will let people know but never been charged yet but theres always a first

No mention of MPEG4 tuner & no mention of TNT HD on the french pixmania website, so I guess it won't work here.

It looks like a Snazio I used to have. It was crap by the way, rubbish tuner.

If you are looking for something cheap for DTT alone, have a look at the Sigmatek DVBR 520HD. Has USB recording and plays MKVs off a USB drive. €60 off pixmania.

Is that not MPEG-4 ?

And it displays a logo that says: TNT Integree ( integrated TNT ?)

The TNT logo on a TV means it is compatible with the free-to-air SD channels on the French DTT service TNT (Télévision Numérique Terrestre)

But no mention of HD

as promised regarding the original box for dealextreme , my views on receiving it are as follows , the build is flimsy , card reader is not connected , remote is cheap , picture quality is very good and has a good tuner with antenna power supply .The EPG works 7 days but needs to be set at France . States it compatible with drives up to 160gb but i cannot get my external hard to work only small flash drives, it has playback for avi movies but this does not work properly ie lagging freezing ...so all in all is only good for viewing useless as PVR..:)

Your hard drive will probably need to be reformatted as FAT32 - Most likely that it is NTFS at the moment.

I had formatted it to fat32 its see flash drives as usb1/ and the disk drive as usb4/ ..not 2 worry:) but we recommend not going near it
