    I have a hrap2
Think its a Sanwa stick, its been a few years so its all over the gaff.
What can i replace this with, im not sure what the different is between 4 and 8 way?

is less the best method for charge characters?
anyway have a new stick part lying around that will fit hrap2?

or would a new stick be easier, cheaper?

    Thanks

    Square gate.

Octos for people who can't handle the square power.

The standard stick in a HRAP is a Sanwa JLF.

You'll need to find out why it's loose before replacing it though, because there's no point getting a new stick if it's a problem with the mounting plate or some other part.

I'm sure Terry or Kiki will happily take a look at it for you.

All joysticks in fighting games are 8-way...
4-way is for things like pacman.

Your better sticking with a square gate as it has even activation distrubution

Octo on the other hand does not.

If it is the stick at fault, you can pick one up pretty cheap here http://www.etokki.com/ArcadeJoysticks/Sanwa%20JLF-TP-8Y-SK

Could also be that the spring is just fecked . New spring is easy to install and costs about 30 cents. I'm sure some folk have one spare to try out

I've had the stick since 2OO6 though and its seen some rough street fighter 3 days, so it could just be banjaxed after 4 years of use?

won't know til you open it up. Sure it might have just come loose from the mounting plate.

Farz, IIRC you have HRAP2 (PS2)

Stick is Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y-SK, so uses 5-pin microswitch board.
I'm certain I still have 1 or 2 springs lying about; not sure about TP-MA boards.

    Possible problems & solutions:
    • Problem: Worn-out spring
Solution: Replace spring with new JLF or LS-32 (stiffer) spring
      Cost: under €1
    • Problem: Worn-out microswitches
Solution: Replace PCB with new Sanwa TP-MA
      Cost: a bit under €15
    • Problem: stick squeaks/grinds (n.b.: not the issue with your stick)
      Solution: get silicone grease/lubricant
Cost: uncertain, have yet to find a grease that works effectively
