The pipe that sticks into the exhaust on the MF690 broke off y'day evening, its cast steel.

Is it possible to weld cast steel or would I be better off trying to get the new part.?

cast can be welded but for the effort and time and money it would cost i dont think twud pay, have to heat the cast and cool and heat and cool

It will be brittle from the smoke going through it so may be very difficult to weld. Best to get a new part for it.

im sure that wouldnt be too thick and aswell like someone said it will be brittle we had a wheel weight welded by a professional welder and it worked ok but that was very thick so it was easy to round off the edges of the joint and make the weld stonger and then it was bolted to the wheel again so it was held on at 4 points again so wasnt under pressure im sure a replacement wouldnt be to hard to get anyway plus even if you tried repairing it you might still end up buying a new one
