Favours - but not really favours!

Having just read the favours thread there I'm half afraid to post my query! Personally I think giving favours for the sake of it is a waste of money. However, we're getting married in December and will be away for Christmas so our wedding meal will also be our Christmas meal with our family and friends. We are thinking of having crackers on the tables for each guest, and these will double up as name places. We'll make them ourselves and they will match our invites/booklets/menus etc. What would peoples' opinion on this be? Thinking of sticking a few buttermints in the inside, and maybe something else but not quite sure yet. Defo won't be having paper hats at my wedding though :D

    Your views please!

I'd agree with you.. I think favours are another marketing ploy to get people spending even more un-necessary money at their wedding. We didn't them. And, as a guest at weddings where there have been favours, the vast majority of guests are usually bemused and curious as to why they're being given presents.

I think this is a good idea.
Not a fan of wedding favours and not planning on having any at my own wedding but would see your idea as being more part of the table decor than a favour!
Only problem I would see is the mess from the empty crackers but even that wouldnt be a huge amount!

If it's Christmas time then the crackers are a nice idea :)

I think crackers are a nice idea! I love Christmas crackers :)

But will the hotel not be supplying them as table decor for a Christmas wedding? I have been to a few weddings around Christmas and there was always crackers on the table... Im sure both hotels supplied them?? might save you some if you could get them from the hotel, empty and re-fill them?
