Replacing Slide on KJW 1911 Question

Hi all, maybe one of you kind souls could help me with this query...

Just bought a KJ Works CO2 1911 (thanks Dex, I'm sure I wasn't going to spend that money when I went in... :) ). I've realised that I like the pistol but I have too many 1911s already. So I'd like to customise it a bit...

I think I'm safe enough going for a Marui-compatible replacement hammer, and I'm happy enough to take my chances with grips. But I'd really like to change the slide for something else, but the only aftermarket slides I can see, available to purchase on their own, are designed for HiCappas.

So, main question is, is the fit of the hicappa slide completely different from a standard 1911, making this a silly idea to start with?

Secondary question then is, does anybody know where a person might find upgraded replacement slides for a 1911 without buying a replacement frame as well?

    thanks....

Why do you want to replace the slide?

You can customise your current one - stripping the paint off, painting it a different colour, even engraving it with trades etc.

Hi Inari. I'm afraid you might be making an assumption as to my technical skills... :D (I'm sure I could strip the paint, but as for engraving it.. I haven't written anything legible since my inter-cert [for you young 'uns listening that's what people in the olden days called the junior cert... ;) ] )

Anyway, I've done a little more digging around and it would appear that standard fit TM hi-capa slides will (just about) fit standard TM 1911 frames. I was looking for something nice and subtle, for example a black Kimber slide, and the only ones I could find were for hi-capas, hence the question.

but... I have another plan which might do me nicely, and I may even put the pic on the site...

has anybody else done major customising work on their 1911s, where they've mixed and matched parts and so on? Or even, as Inari suggests, done their own engraving? Let's see em...

If you want it a wee bit different you could polish the slide to a mirror finish or if you feel that it is beyond your ability contact The Joker he has polished many a slide or complete pistol
He has posted several photos of his work in the review section

thanks for the suggestions guys. Not sure if the polished look is my thing, but I'll bear it in mind.

Thanks for the offer Thermo, but I'm looking to move away from the standard 1911 slide that I have, so I'll pass, but thanks.
