Unfortunately I couldn't make it down to Nowlan Park this evening but by all accounts Dublin were superb. It's an achievement to beat Kilkenny at any level and after Sunday, it's exactly what Dublin hurling needed. The only negative is Treacy going off injured (hamstring afaik) which will be a big worry for the seniors.

The 2 teams for anybody that's interested:

    Dublin
1 Finn McGarry (Ballyboden St Enda’s)
    2 Ronan Walsh (Kilmacud Crokes)
    3 Darren Kelly (Craobh Chiaráin)
    4 Oisín Gough (Cuala)
    5 Peter Kelly (Lucan Sarsfields)
    24 Rory O’Carroll (Kilmacud Crokes)
    7 Martin Quilty (Na Fianna)
    8 Conor Clinton (Kilmacud Crokes)
9 Peter Buckeridge (Ballyboden St Enda’s)
10 Shane Stapleton (St Pat’s, Palmerstown)
11 Liam Rushe (St Pat’s, Palmerstown)
    12 Daire Plunkett (St Brigid’s)
    13 David Treacy (Cuala)
    14 David Quinn (Lucan Sarsfields)
15 Niall McMorrow (Ballyboden St Enda’s)

    Subs
    16 Ger McManus (St Jude’s)
    17 Ciarán Brennan (Faughs)
    18 Barry O’Rorke (Kilmacud Crokes)
    19 Colm O’Farrell (Cuala)
    20 Paul Garbutt (Naomh Barróg)
    21 Darren Whelan (Crumlin)
22 Daire Ó Maoileidigh (Na Fianna)
    23 Robert O’Loughlin (Kilmacud Crokes)
    6 Aodhán McEnerney (St Brigid’s)

    Kilkenny
    1 Colin McGrath (St. Martins)
    2 Alan Cuddihy (Ballyhale Shamrocks
    3 Conor Fogarty(Erins Own)
    4 Richie Doyle (Barrow Rangers)
    5 P.J. Rowe (Mooncoin)
    6 Kieran Mooney (Conahy Shamrocks)
    7 David Langton (Clara)
    8 Paul Murphy (Danesfort)
    9 Colin Fennelly (Ballyhale Shamrocks)
    10 Mark Bergin (O’Loughlin Gaels)
    11 J.J. Dunphy (Dunnamaggin)
    12 Liam Ryan (Clara)
    13 Eoin Murphy (Glenmore)
    14 Walter Walsh (Tullogher Rosbercon)
    15 James Nolan (Clara)

    16 Garry Delaney (Cloneen)
    17 Michael Walsh (Young Irelands)
    18 Danny Kenny (Dicksboro)
    19 Gerry Callinan (Erin’s Own)
    20 Michael Fagan (Dicksboro)
21 Michael Maloney (Blacks & Whites)
    22 Geoff Brennan (St. Patricks)
    23 Adrian Stapleton (Dicksboro)
    24 David Walton (James Stephens)

Wouldnt say Wexford only scraped past em. They were 2-13 to 0-3 points up on Carlow at half time after playing better stuff than some of the seniors. Played against the wind in the second half Carlow came back strongly but never looked like winning.

Fantastic win for the lads, and achieved with conviction too.
Great boost after the low on Sunday.

It's all about belief, there's no-one to fear.

Go all the way boys to make it a DOUBLE!!!

    Up the Dubs!

Unlucky lads good game in the end, another 10 mins and we would have beaten the yellow bellies in their back yard

    Well done Dublin.

Hurling needs few more of these.

Wexford had a total collapse in the second half, they were leading by 16 points at half time

I know. They only won by 3 points - that scrapping by imo.

I can imagine after this there will be a serious inquest in Kilkenny

Would many of those lads have been on the Dublin minor team that won Leinster a few years back? I never made it to any games they were involved in but they made a lasting impression on one of my mates.
You had a pretty nifty U21 team in either 2007/08 who were provincial champs as well. Dublin seem to be something of a rising force in underage hurling in Leinster, and more power to ye.

    Why?

Dublin are putting in the work at underage level for a good few years but really over the last 7 - 8 years Hurling has grown. They have very dedicated and focused people coaching teams and their dedication is starting to pay-off
Some people seem to expect Kilkenny to win these titles every year. Dublin have been improving each year for the last 6 or 7 with a huge amount of work being done at underage level. Dublin have beaten Kilkenny, Offaly and Wexford in Leinster over the last few years and probably now need to deliver an All- Ireland title to give the game more momentum. It could be a few years yet before thwe Seniors make a breakthrough but at least they are going in the right direction.

Yeah, they'd be backboned by the team that won the Leinster Minor Championship in 2007 (McGarry, Gough, Rory O'Carroll, Kelly, Treacy etc). The minors have only won Leinster twice since 1983, in 2005 and 2007. The 2005 team had the likes of Tomás Brady, Joey Boland, Shane Durkin, John McCaffrey and Ross O'Carroll, who've since gone on to be important players for the seniors. Hopefully we'll see the same with the current U21 team. The minors play Weford in the semis this weekend aswell.

First off- it's great that Kilkenny don't win everything, all the time. I was genuinely surprised (and a bit delighted) to see the headline in todays Irish Times.
Second- it's good for hurling, in general, that the Dubs are progressing so well. I think it's an incredible achievement, so much achieved in (relatively speaking) so little time. Genuine question- has this progress been solely funded by Dublin County Board, or has the GAA ploughed in a heap of funds?

The reason I say that KK will have some sort of inquiry (and you know, maybe they won't) is based upon something similar happening before. Of course  I can't remember when exactly, but I think it was mid-1990s and it was from that that their current underage set-up was built.

Now if Carlow and Laois can continue on their upward progress we may have a good, competitive Leinster hurling championship. Is it possible, though?

I couldn't make it last night, but I may be able to get to the final. It sounded like it was a good win. A score of that margin over Kilkenny always is. They need to bring those kind of performances and confidence into the senior ranks. Kilkenny are not invincible.

 2-17 to 2-13 if i remember correctly. Wexford were 2-17 to 1-9 up with eight minutes go, emptied their bench and Carlow scored 4 points and then a goal in injury time. Complacency would be a better word as they were very good up to the substitutions.

This has been happening quite a few times so I am not really that shocked. Now if we can translate it to senior, then we'll kick ass:D

Dublin Minors beat Wexford in the Leinster semi final yesterday by 1-16 to 1-15 after coming back and scoring 1-1 in injury time. They play the winners of Kilkenny and Offaly in the final.

We can stop the Cats but we cant stop certain referees from giving dodgy penos

EDIT: Hats off to Dublin. anyone who keeps that lot quiet deserves plenty of praise

Offaly were dismantled by Kilkenny in the other semi. Awful to watch from my point of view, particularly as imo, based on todays game, Kilkenny are beatable. That said they might only have played as well as they needed to.

Maybe it will encourage those players who choose the Football over the hurling to reconsider their decision and come back to hurling and this will make us more competitive at senior level.

Great to see the Dubs win that one. From a Carlow point of view it gives us even more hope as we really should have beaten Dublin in the last round. Threw it away from a winning position.

But underage is still looking good for us. And the win in senior v Laois on Saturday with 6 u-21s involved is a huge boost. Finally we feel like we belong at the top level, and with the youngsters coming through too hopefully we can do a Dublin on it and make serious progress at senior level soon.
