Does any one know about Thin Lizzy? Where Thin Lizzy's mother or father was from, I know one of his parents is Irish obviously and he lived in dublin, Is he half irish half indian ethnicity, he looks very handsome but thin. Did he get bullied in school because being different your more likely to get bullied. He died young, What did he die from? Was Jimmy Hendrix in his band? They are similiar in some ways. Who was Lizzy, I think that's just the name of the band? Excuse my ignorance I don't know, he was in my dream last night.

    WTF??

I think you mean Phil Lynott?? And no, Hendrix was not in his band. Phil was born in England on 20th August 1949 and died in England on 4th Jan 1986.

There is no need to be hateful cursing and call people names because they are trying to find out about a band. How is it offending you for anyone to ask simple questions about a rockstar. This is the musician forum or is it the hate forum or unjustified anger forum. How would you feel if you were asking a question about a band from years ago before your time that you were interested in knowing more about to be met with hatefulness and ignorace. Its basic to treat people how you would want to get treated.

Why are you calling me a troll, look at yourself and the others. You know nothing about me. Just because I asked about Thin Lizzy in the so called musician forum, it should be called the angry/hate/discrimation forum. It was before my time How do I know about him I wanted to find out about him from people who might have knowen of him because I had a dream last night about him which is strange because I don't know much about him al all only whiskey in a jar song and the statue outside that hotel, I can't remember the name of it near graffton street.

I think what everyone finds so strange is that you clearly didn't even take any time to look up the most basic information on Google about the lead singer of Thin Lizzy's actual name and all the other questions. And also the fact you asked about 10 questions in your first post, some being fairly strange and with no reasons as to why you would think that! Why did you think Jimi Hendrix was in the band considering he died before Thin Lizzy's first record was released?? And the fact that you justified all these questions by saying he was in your dream, that is a bit strange!

OP i think the reason you're getting heat here is because you didn't take the time to research the band yourself. Also you constantly refer to Thin Lizzy as an individual (Phil Lynott presumably), when if you had done any research you would realize that Lynott died 23/24 years ago yet Thin Lizzy are still playing gigs to this day....amazingly talented and all as Mr. Lynott was I suspect that even he would struggle to play bass with that sort of handicap

Thin Lizzy were the band who put Irish hard rock on the map, their trademark twin guitar sound is imitated by countless acts even to this very day. All the huge metal bands site them as a major influence to developing their sound, for example Iron Maiden and Metallica, both have even recorded cover versions of Thin Lizzys songs (Massacre was recorded by Iron Maiden as a B-side for a single released around the Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son era, and Metallica released their version of Whiskey in The Jar a couple of years back as a single to great success).

They are, in my opinion, the greatest Irish rock band of all time, and unfortunately one of the most underrated.
If you're looking for some good songs to get you into them, try:

The Boys Are Back In Town,
    Dancing In The Moonlight,
    Sarah,
    Wild One

and if you like the heavier side of things:
    Don't Believe A Word
    Cold Sweat
    Bad Reputation

They have countless amazing songs, and they're really worth looking into.

Don't mind people hassling you about not knowing about them, I think they are just surprised because this is and Irish forum, and they're one of the biggest Irish rock bands of all time. Their singer Phil Lynott, was even voted number 1 in the top 10 frontmen of Ireland in the Independant, beating Bono from U2 who only came second.

Let's try and keep this thread civil folks, no insults please.

RainbowRose81, it's considered good practice to do some research before asking questions. That applies to real life as well as on here :). Even a minimal amount of research on Wikipedia or Google would have told you pretty much everything you asked in your first post.
