Hi, I am hoping for some advice. I am 25 years old and I am thinking of a career change. I have my degree in Busness from 4 years studying in college.I am curently employed with good salary and job ut i think i need to change. Heres my problem:

I would like to do teaching now, but i dont have honours Irish and my degree I got was a pass, however my cert and diploma are 2.2 merits.

IF I had to go to england to train i would as i am young and would go for it. have you any feedback on what I coud do? x

The primary & preschool forum would be better for this.

My brother went to St. Pat's as a mature student and got a grant even though he had a diploma already. He loved it.

You could just repeat LC Irish and no other subjects if it's just to meet matriculating requirements. To get you back into the swing you could try one of those two week adult gaeltacht courses in Glencolmcille (sp?). My mam does them to refresh her Irish from time to time. There's no point going into primary teaching if your Irish isn't good because it's going to be a massive part of the curriculum.

I'll move it over to the primary/pre-school forum,

Mods there feel free to move it back.

Hi XKittenX if you don't mind me asking, are you going for an interview for the course that starts next February? Really confused, I thought info. wasn't out until the autumn. I'm hoping to apply :)

Don't bother repeating Leaving Cert Irish. The Diploma in Irish (NUI Maynooth, UCD, UL, NUI Galway) is more interesting for mature students and you will be eligible for entry to any of the BEd or Post-Grad. Dip. courses.
