Game Dealer Question

Hi, Just wondering if anyone knows what the Game dealer in Wicklow pays per carcase.
Is it like the cattle, on skinned weight when cool or is the skin included.

I know i am probably getting ahead of myself, but as it is more expensive for a lease in Wicklow than i thought i will have to try and make at least a small portion of it back.
    Thanks in advance.

Price /kg of skinned undammaged(bullet damage) meat.
    Im pretty sure thats right...
    I dont sell mine...
I give to the needy..After I take the best cuts for myself of course.
You would be amazed at how many free pints ya can get with 10kg of steaks in the local pub..:p

When i get the deer licence next year ( hopefully), i will shoot what i can eat and a bit for the family. I know already the area i will be shooting i know the deer il be eating, and i know which ones il be leaving. I wouldnt shoot more than i can eat.

    Its a good plan...
Theres a lot of old boys in my local that used to shoot years ago but are too far gone now.....
It kinda makes ya feel good to hand out a few steaks and have an old chat with em about yesteryear and what they used to get too in there day...

Absolutely. And never forget, there may come a day where for one reason or another you're not able to climb mountains, kill deer and drag them off. It'd be nice to think someone would still drop you off a bit of venison and stay for a chat once in a while if that happens.

Slippy Wicket, i didnt mean to sound rude in my post.
I shoot, if i get paid from a game dealer, fine. If i dont, i still shoot anyway.
I never was interested in selling to a game dealer as the little brother, cousins, and kids 'the boss' minds eat it. I never manage to shoot more than they can eat anyway:D:D:D

You'll be like a bicycle rack by November, so no fear. :D Been running and cycling myself, but the first few hard stalks are still going to be rough enough going. Need bigger mountains for the fitness!

Bang on, i got another rabbit permission today just by helping an ould lad put on a mower. Got chatting about shooting, crows, bunnys, 'you'll get a few here' he says. And i will too:D;)

That would be my problem as well, could eat the stuff til it comes out my ears, and hope to do a job on converting a few others who dont approve of going after poor little bambi with the big evil death cannon:D

A few tender steaks of 'beef' should do the trick;)

Back to the point, i dont even know what the projected cull will be in the wood, all i know about it is that it is 955 a year, it is Sheilstown / Aughrim Forest, and that the numbers of stalkers are down on last year.

your cull must be high if your planning on selling some thing you dont have , very few leases in wicklow have that amount of deer any more .

you probably are paying to much for the lease ,if you have to sell what you shoot.
