Rathmines to Blanchardstown?

Hi all, I'm new to the Dublin area and am currently living in Rathmines (the Harolds Cross end). I've got a job offer in the Blanchardstown area and am wondering the best way to commute? I've spent loads of time on the Dublin transport web site and can't come up with a route that will get me there in under 2 hours. It might be best to cycle but I haven't got one yet so wanted to check here first. Cheers.

The Blanchardstown area is very large you might get more help if you can identify exactly whereabouts in Blanchardstown it is? If it's in the Shopping Centre your best bet is probably any of the Rathmines buses or a 16 or 49 (as you're Harolds X end) into town then the 39.
Depending where it is though you might be better off getting the train to Clonsilla/Coolmine.
Do you know if your employer is registered on the www.taxsaver.ie scheme? That would help make your travel cheaper.

I would lean towards a bus into town and then train or something. Blanch has two stations:clonsilla and coolmine

Yep, it's the shopping centre. Thanks, I'll check those routes. This taxsaver scheme looks grand, I'll ask about it during training.

    Cheers guys.

I do the commute in the opposite direction - I live in Blanchardstown and work in Rathmines (the canal end). I get a bus into town and a 39 to the Blanchardstown centre. It's generally a 60-70 minute journey.

For the Blanch centre, it's either Castleknock or Coolmine station; both are about 10-15 minute walks depending on your pace and where in the centre you are working. Clonsilla would be a helluva walk away.

16/16a or 49 to Dame Street and 39 to Blanchardstown.

Should take about 1 hour 10 mins (25 mins to city centre) and 45 mins to Blanchardstown.

Clonsilla has the advantage of having the 39 stopping outside it which then goes to the shopping centre.

That bus 39 looks grand. Thanks everyone, it's a real relief to have some better options. I wish Dublin bus would improve their site!

bit unfair on the dublin bus site, if you type in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre you get the list of buses that serve it or go close by it. What exactly did you find difficult about the site?

The place name search wasn't working for me, only the route number search. I found that true on 3 different comps, maybe it was just down temporarily. It's working now at any rate.

Also, it'd be nice to have an actual route map similar to the one here. http://mkmap.com/dublin It took me a long time to find that one, but it made searching loads easier!
