Nervous Traveller Going to USA for the First Time

My mother is travelling over to New York to visit me in August. I am here on the J1 visa program. I just wanted to ask what are the documents my mother will have to fill out in Dublin Airport/JFK. As I am travelling with a visa, my travel documents were a bit different so if anyone who has travelled to NYC for pleasure could advise me on what documents she will have to fill out then that would be great.

My mother has already signed up for the visa waiver program and has her reference number from this.

Am I right in saying that the only other document she will have to fill out is the I-94?

    Thanks for any help

The I-94w and the Customs declaration form

Actually, just saw this press release which will do away with the I94 by the end of the summer for all VWP countries. Somebody else mentioned that it has already been removed from Dublin Airport, so looks like its just the Customs form from now on.

you need to fill out the online form as well - not sure if this is what you ment when you said you got a reference number.

Yeah I meant that she completed the online form, filling out flight details etc, and then received a reference number for the completed application form.

    Cheers

    That's the ESTA.

You'll also have to provide Advanced Passenger Information - that's easy: it can be done via most airlines websites, or even on the day at check-in. Basically, she just needs to know the address of where she is staying etc.

I-94W may be gone by then, but if not it will have to be completed, along with a customs form. These will be given to her at the check-in desk. Tell her to go somewhere, have a coffee and fill them in carefully before heading to the gate :)
