Joining Felt back Carpet with underlay

    Hi All,

I am geting Felt back carpet fitted with underlay to 2 rooms that are to be used primarily for storage. The floor is not concrete (3rd floor). We will need to join the carpet as the width of the room is 4.1m and the carpet that the salesman sold us is 4m in width (He said we could join it to minimise waste and cost).
The carpet fitter when he arrived to fit it has now said that we can't join felt back carpet when using underlay as it will not last and he'll be back repeatedly to keep it down. Who is right?? Is our best option to go for canvas back carpet? The reason we choose the felt back is that these rooms will be used infrequently and to minimise the cost. Thanks!
