    Hi,
My girlfriend and I are taking a trip to Hawaii in September. Been doing research etc and just wondering if anyone on here has any experience with the Ireland to Hawaii journey. Any flight, route recommendations etc.

Currently I'm thinking about going for a package deal, hotel, flight etc. but need to make a few phone calls. Want to stay in Maui but maybe visit another Island also, staying for around 10 days or so in total.

Any advice, on any aspect of the trip, very much appreciated :)

    Chris

I've been the Maui a few times, mostly while I lived in California.
In 2005 my wife and I went back, flying from Dublin (for our 5th wedding anniversary - we were married on Maui in 2000).

We stayed in the far west of the island and booked our condo through Hawaii Condo Rentals. Here is the view from our condo.

We flew with US Airways from Dublin, Philly, San Francisco. We stayed in SF for a few days with friends.
I think we flew from Oakland to Maui with Aloha Airlines, but that airline no longer exists.

For our return flight we only stopped in SF overnight. It was a looooong 3 flight route.

We flew to Kauai during our honeymoon. Nice and small place.

Nice, I'm sure the long flights worth it though. Probably not the nicest on the return though! Those condos look pretty good and rates don't seem too bad either. Might send them a mail.

My girlfriends bother lives in San Francisco, we had thought maybe of stopping with him for a day, would break up the journey a bit but then again might be better just to do the whole thing at once. Did you book Hawaii flight in the US? Wondering would it be better to do it separate or all together.

    Thanks for the info :)

The local supermarket is just across the road, as is an excellent take away that specialises in fish.

I recommend breaking the outbound journey, especially because SF is a fantastic city.
I think we booked the flights separately, all done before we left Ireland.

If you go to Maui, you should go to Pacific'O restaurant - we had our wedding night meal there. For lunch Maui Tacos is great, especially if you like burritos. Roy's restaurant is another fantastic restaurant, close to the Papakea resort.

If only Hawaii was in the middle of the Atlantic I'd go a few times a year. It is truly brilliant.
I can point you to some good snorkelling spots too.

We stayed in San Francisco with my girlfriends brother for 2 weeks a few years ago. Fantastic place. We seen most of it back then so breaking up the journey would be really just for a break more than anything, but then again like I said might be better to go the whole way.

Those places look good. I've mailed the maui dreams guys now to see about prices. Now to look at some flights......again.....:(

Maui Tacos is a chain that's all over America, there was one beside my hotel in NYC.
