Anyone have any info on dog handler courses or training in Ireland. I would like to get into the Garda unit but not really sure how. Still in college and only 20 so have plenty time yet. Tbh when i entered college i really hadnt a clue what to do.
I was talking to someone in the army on a night out and he said do it in the army and join the limerick base was his advice.

Just wondering has anyone any info or is there any dog handlers on this with advice for me.

    Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, you have to already be a Garda to be in their dog unit.

Very difficult to get into for the guards, its a small unit and only if someone leaves will a position become available

There are some private companies that train security dogs for use in business premises, perhaps you could try some of those.

The Defence Forces don't have a dog handling unit.
