I had windows vista and got my friend to install a trial version of
windows 7,that trial is now up and I want to install windows XP.
When I try to do a back up it stops at 7%.
Basically how do I get rid of windows 7 ?

You Simply have to put the windows xp cd in it and boot from the windows xp cd. Format the hard drive and install a fresh copy of xp.

    Indeed.
But! Make sure you have a copy of all your music/documents/pictures/movies etc etc, before doing the above.

Okay, Get your windows xp disk and put it in the computer. Turn off your computer. Turn it back on and push one of the F buttons(F12 is usually the one on Dells). This will present you with a "Boot menu". Boot from the cd/dvd drive. Then follow the instructions.
    Done.
