Transfering Music

So I've just made the switch from Windows to Mac and have a query about transfering my music. My old PC died a death but luckily I had all my music backed up on an external HD. I'm pretty sure I can just attach this to the Mac, open iTunes and import the library. But it would be nice if I could have my old playlists. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to save any of that info before my PC died.

I do have an iPod with the music on it. I remember using software before to take music from the iPod onto the PC. I think it might have been iGadget or something similar.

So is there a piece of software floating about out there that would allow me to to attach my iPod and have it take the works (music, playlists etc) and copy that onto the Mac?

Another question is that I have quite a bit of music purchased from iTunes. Am I going to run into trouble when I put this on another machine? Is there a limit on how many copies of a track you can have?

All music on iTunes is DRM-free now, so you shouldn't have any problem on that front. Even with older DRM-enabled tracks you could still use them on up to 5 computers.

I don't know about playlists, but there is software that will copy your iPod music over. I've never used any of them, so I'm not sure which is the best. Senuti seems to be popular though.

EDIT: Just checked, Senuti will transfer your playlists over as well.
