I'm not sure why there isn't a PC games forum... so in it's absence this seems the best place to post this:

I want to get starcraft 2 when it comes out but I'm unsure about the specs of it. The release date is out but I can't seem to find anywhere that gives official specifications. Why is this? Surely they should release the requirements when they announce a release date?

My machine is about 4 years old and a mac so I'm not sure if I'll be able to play it until I get the requirements. It's frustrating.

    Mac Requirements

    Mac Minimum System Requirements:
    • Mac® OS X 10.5.8, 10.6.2 or newer
    • Intel® Processor
    • NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT or ATI Radeon® X1600 or better
    • 12 GB available HD space
    • 2 GB Ram
    • DVD-ROM drive
    • Broadband Internet connection
    • 1024X720 minimum display resolution
    Mac Recommended System Requirements:
    • Intel® Core 2 Duo processor
    • 4 GB system RAM
    • NVIDIA® GeForce® 9600M GT or ATI Radeon® HD 4670 or better

Mac requirements are pretty high, I doubt your 4 year old Mac would have at least an 8600 GT in it, unless you upgraded recently

I'll have to verify that at home but according to the mac website the make/model I have actually has enough horsepower to run the game today.

That'd be great if it was the case!

well my friend could run beta sc2 on really mediocore laptop really smooth..

i presume blizzard is doing really smart, they make it for all spec pcs. If you got the rig to run it, you can run on max detail, if dont, you can run it on basic!

    It's a 2006 MacbookPro, 2.0Ghz Core Duo processor, 2Gb RAM and an ATI Radeon® X1600 256MB.

Back in the day when I bought it I went all out and got the maximum spec of everything I could. It cost an arm and a leg but it was a monster when it was new. These days it's just keeping up, but I think if as you say Shadowhearth I just be able to turn down some of the options I should be able to play no bothers.

Looks like I hit the minimum requirements anyway. If and when I do get it I'll post and let you know how it runs.

Generally I'm a PS3 gamer, but this game... I can't wait for it!

It wasn't even a bleeding edge laptop at the time, i just made sure it had a dx10 shader.

    Yeah, so much for that.

yours is the 8400gs right? I've been playing it on my 1.5 core 2, 8400m and 2gb ram on xp. get about 30 fps on low settings, drops a bit now and again. perfectly playable for a strategy game
