Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Can anyone advise me as to whether or not its safe to drink alcohol when taking Doxycycline. I'm due to start taking Doxycycline as an anti-malarial today. I'm going to Thailand for three weeks and want to be able to have a few beers regularly. Is it safe to do so PLEASE ANY HELP APPRECIATED!!!

Having been to Thailand twice I don't think you would need to be taking anti-malarials in most of the country, certainly not in the main tourist areas (not that I'm an expert). You should have no problems with a few beers and doxycycline, I took them in Cambodia and had no trouble, although you probably should take the doxy early in the day, that way it'll be in your system by the time you beer o'clock comes around. That said, check with your doctor if you have concerns. Enjoy Thailand!

Should only ever get proper medical advice from your GP.
That said, I have used doxycycline every time I went to Thailand (and India) and I always drank lots :D No problems and doctors never said anything about it. You probably don't need to take it in Thailand, but personally I think its best to be safe that sorry.

Il Trap we don't give out advice about health issues here as rarely is a poster qualified to do so.

There are most specialized forums you can ask on if you haven't already got your answer.
