    Hi guys,

The 'auld one needs a second key for her Honda Accord. Its a chipped key and Honda want €180 for it. This seems like complete extortion to me. Is there any way to get such a key made for a more reasonable price?

    TIA,
    Lethal.

Sorry but you will have to pay the money for the key afaik.
I was looking for a spare key but at €190, I decided to just mind the one I have.

Is it a chipped key, or a chipped key with remote central locking buttons?

It is extortion. The expense comes from the fact that car companies keep certain information secret and only release it to main dealers so they can charge what they want. I believe the EU recently ruled it an uncompetitive practice but it will take a while for this decision to have a noticeable affect.

...it's also to stop any Noddy with a laptop copying your key, btw........

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
