I have a subscription to Sky In Ireland but im starting to wonder if I would be better off changing my subs to the UK at my parents address who dont have Sky.

The only thing that prevents me doing this is the loss of RTE and TV3 but with our own version of freeview coming soon this wont be a major problem.

Is it better to switch or should I stay as I am?

I live the ROI and my Sky sub is based Northern Ireland. I get RTE 1+2 & TG4 on my sub (but not TV3 or 3e) - You won't get the Irish stations if your sub is based in mainland UK. You need to pay by DD or CC. There is an extra 50p pm if you pay by CC.

I think is well worth having, as you can Sky+/Record .....
    BBC 3+4+HD
    4 ITV channels
    3 FIVE channels
    2 extra kids channels
    2 extra news channels
    13 BBC radio channels

Going by your post on this thread - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055947618 you're very impressed with Freeview. There is a Satellite alternative called Freesat with more or less the same channels, Check out www.freesat.co.uk

Also you can still get loads of channels without a Sky sub on a sky box, power off your box, remove your card and restart the box. The EPG (program guide) will have changed to UK default. If you try to view channels like Sky you'll get a pop up error saying you'll need a valid sub but BBC, ITV etc are viewable.

You could also get a SKY FTV card for your Sky box for 20 pounds and receive some extra channels like Fiver, Fiver +1, Five USA, Five USA +1, Viva LFC TV and if you've got a HD box you can get C4 HD and soon you'll get Five HD using this card. You could have the card sent to your parents house in the UK or follow this thread - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055800625 to have it sent to Ireland. It would be less hassle to have it sent to your parents and have them forward it to Ireland, you could then activate the card using their address details.
