Quick question folks, do last minute deals work out well?

I'm sitting browsing through flights at the minute and myself and my friend are looking to book soonish to travel around end of August/early September but since we're both able to go at the drop of a hat we're wondering if we wait and see what will show up?

We'll go pretty much anywhere in Europe (preferably sunny) and can book flights tonight for €60ish for Portugal, Spain or Germany so basically, can we expect much cheaper or great hotel deals at the last minute?

What do you mean by "well"?

I've taken a few in the past. They've generally been fine as they were just regular priced package holidays that were reduced in price to make up the numbers. You just don't have the same choice as you might normally have.

Why not do the calculation now and see how much it'll cost to book tomorrow and compare with the cheapest you could get with lastminute?

I took a last minute holiday last year through Thomas Cook (not in Dublin anymore!). It worked out great, it was kind of exciting not knowing where I was going until the day before. Make sure you are given a few hours to make your decision so that you can spend it researching the area on Google.
