I pushed the green button on my Samsung remote just now by accident and the Soarview EGP came into view, so who is in charge of the other one?

    Saorview for those wondering

first one is your tv's inbuilt epg, the other is the saorview mheg-5 (like sky red button)

Cheers. I think I prefer Samsungs, its certainly easier to navigate.

The SaorView branded one is managed by RTÉ Publishing. The other is your TVs own guide which just picks out the scheduling data from the broadcast signal. The idea behind it is to provide a standard EPG which looks and feels the same on any MHEG-5 compliant device.

have they formally decided on 'the green button' ? Is that what we'll hear rte presenters saying in years to come

How does it work if one lives in an area where Freeview (UK) signals are also available ?

Mheg5 is now on my Samsung without having to use the UK version of the spec. Not sure how long this has been the case - only about a week I'd say.

Yes, but there is no RTE NL MHEG EPG at the moment. So wrong thread?

You didn't update the Samsung or change any settings?

My mistake, its branded RTE not Soarview but looks quite like Saorview at a glance. It was loaded using the txt button not the green button.

That's just Text. Not an EPG. It's same content, but faster to use and easier to navigate as the traditional EBU Teletext, with video and adverts on one half of screen.
