    Hi all,
I need new running socks and I am looking for advice. I dont do a huge amount
of running ( 2 -3 times a week, 40 -50 minutes) and I dont need anything too fancy, but I do like good quality thin socks with no lumpy seams. I also dont like
the ones that only cover your feet and dont even reach the top of your shoes.

I am baulking a bit at the prices I am seeing.

Can anyone recommend a decent pair of running socks for less than a tenner a pair.

    http://euro.mandmdirect.com/products-1000-Mile-Double-Layer-Anklet-Sock-White_MY96.htm

I wear these for running and cycling, decent price compared to Elverys etc.

Slightly off topic but have been using two fantastic sites for running gear of late with some fantastic deals-
www.upandrunning.co.uk Some very cheap runners in the clearance section woth a good selection aswel.
www.startfitness.co.uk Everything really but lately alot of compression stuff like shorts, tights, even tri suits!

i like the Lidl and Aldi ones, but you have to wait for them to go on sale

I'd say your best bet is getting them online, it's surprisingly hard to find a decent pair for less than a tenner in shops.

+1, the best I've every used, thin, comfy, don't form "hard creases". Buy a bunch when they're in store.

Agreed. Screw paying more than €3 a pair for running socks!

You can usually get 3 pairs for a tenner from startfitness. I stock up when I'm buying other things so I don't have to pay extra postage.

The more mile socks work for me, add a bit of vaseline if I'll be out for anything over 2 hours

If you're wearing the right shoes and socks you really shouldn't need vaseline.

I never understand how so many people on here suffer from blisters all the time.

    Delicate feet :D

    Must try the vaseline idea

I only had that problem when I started running. Soft skin soon got hard and no blisters any more !!

a bit OT but do people have socks with R and L on them. I have loads like this from lidl and some other well know brands. I seldom sort them in the washing and they feel grand but there must be a difference in stitching or something right

I love the X-Socks - had these for at least 7 years, still going, and never suffered from blisters since I went to them.. Used them for long distance running, cycling, anything really.

Yip, I've 2 pairs of adidas running socks like that and there's a difference alright. I've another pair of expensive socks but there's no difference with them.

Thanks for all the advice. Interesting to see how animated people can get on the subject of socks.

Bought a nice pair on Amazon. I was buying a load of books etc so postage was free.

Lidl have running socks next Monday ( 12th July) for 2.99. Must check them out.
