You can camp at Fanore which is just a few miles to the south. No idea about the fishing sorry.

blackhead can be a great spot alright, although most anglers seem to be intent on mackerel there are loads of other species around if you're looking for variety. Some of the most productive marks tend to be up by the lighthouse, where there is seriously deep water in front of you... you can't miss it, its a a lighthouse ... although parking around there is tricky at the best of times, wouldn't recommend trying to climb back up the rocks after dark either. Get there early if you can, rising tide a little better, early evening even better.

Really you can fish pretty much anywhere from the "start" of the burren jsut past the cliffs of moher on the coast road , thh ground is mostly rocks with the odd strand around Fanore way which has thrown up bass / flatfish, but they're rare enough now.

You'll need plenty of tackle and some decent gear as the rocks are bait hungry. At distance you'll find sandy bottom (+ 130 yards , sometimes more) where ray, doggies and flatfish are to be had on worms, fish / cocktail baits, closer in float fishing for wrasse, scorpion fish etc on mussels, worm or small crab, conger lurking beneath your feet will take a fish bait, and pollack and mackeral on spinners / feathers/ jellyworms . All the marks are numbered for match fishing, and it can get seriously hectic when the amateurs get wind of mackeral being in.

also, dangerous enough place even when you know where you're going, not for the infirm and a good hike back to the car if it rains (it's clare, it will) so be prepared.

When you do lose all your gear, head back to fanore to resupply at the post office who has plenty of frozen bait on stock.

You'll need to ignore the c***s taking every little fish out of the water then leaving behind a pile of empty lager cans and crap behind them, so please take your litter home with you, the place gets destroyed by "fishermen" every summer and its a beautiful spot.

    good luck.
