    Hi...quick question..

In the spring we spread 4 bags of CAN to the acre and just cut/baled silage on Friday, slurry went out yeaterday although not too heavy as not much rain forcast..
Would you go with 4 bags again or would you advise to cut back, lad spreading slurry said 2 bags to the acre would be fine but I don't want to get caught with a poor second crop..
Last year we spread 4 bags for both cuts but we spread no slurry at all last year..

    Advice appreciated :)

2 per acre should be fine with the slurry. Slurry is high in P and K so really all you need with it is something that's high in Nitrogen - like the CAN. Would be advisable to wail till there's a bit of rain to wash it down (I hope we don't get any for a week or 2 yet) or there is a chance that the N in the CAN will evaporate. That's just my opinion anyway :)

4 bags is an above average application for a 1st cut so bearing that in mind , 2 bags should be enough for 2nd cut

I had very poor yield of first cut was advised to put out 3bags of sulfa can, sulfur can show a big increase in yield in dry weather Im told. Had practically no rain since April Waiting for rain before I apply it, no growth at present here. Its either too wet or too dry, can we win ?

I have a few paddocks that I want to cut in about 3 weeks time. Was thinking of spreading a bag/acre of cut sward. Should the nitrogen be used up within 3 weeks?
    Thanks

it takes 6 weeks for the n to be used up and with the dry weather would take longer

In good growing conditions about 2 units a day are used up. 12 days for cut sward. Why don't you cut it now and fertilize it after?

Thanks for that. It is still light and I have some cut sward left over so I figure if growth rates pick up, there should be a good crop there in 3 weeks or so.
