Will Glee EVER do Pantera?

"Are you sure we can't just do Pantera?" Finn asked hopefully

So in the Madonna episode, one of the characters ask's why the Glee club can't do the boy version of Madonna, namely Pantera

If that did happen, and hopefully it might, I was wondering what Pantera track they might cover. The only song I can think of which might be tolerated is "Cemetery Gates" - so let me know, you Gleeks, what do you think?

After this, it won't be long before they tackle some Alice In Chains, Finn screaming about being the 'Man In The Box'

Few weeks ago i was sitting in an athlone coffee bar waiting for a bus listening to Alice In Chains latest album on my ipod. All of a sudden i noticed some cool backround vocals id never heard before that were out of key but in time. I though ah classic AIC wierd vocal stuff but the song ended and i realised that the cafe was playing some sort of glee soundtrack, cos only they could murder the Valen Halen song Jump. This was the source of the mysterious backup vocals i had thought were good. When I realised my coffee nearly came back up

There's actually been an update on this, as someone in the Glee camp must have been asked if Pantera will ever be covered on the show, to which they responded....
The show's Mark Salling, who plays football player Noah 'Puck' Puckerman, was asked about the best concert he's ever seen, and his response? Pantera when he was 13. Salling goes on to explain how Dimebag Darrell was the "baddest-ass guitar player of all time," and calls the experience of seeing people light their shirts on fire and participate in a mosh pit as "Satan's gift to earth." Amen.

Could we see Alice in Chains or Pantera on Glee....we actually might....

Later on in the same interview, Salling name-drops Alice in Chains as one of his favorite bands. While the musical stylings of the 'Glee' soundtrack might not be a good representation of these influences, it's always nice to know metal has fans in unapparent places.

In all fairness, Pantera would be very hard do because the snarling nature of most of their songs' vocal range doesn't fit in very well with a collection of actors whose backgrounds are mostly in stage music or melodic songs.

The major issue I'd see is that a Metallica or Bon Jovi show with a load of songs alot of people instantly recognise (Pantera were big, but lets have some perspective here) would be a far more likely a port of call on the rock front given that the first two artist-themed episodes were Madonna and Britney Spears respectively. Until that happens I'd go out on a limb and say there's no chance of Pantera or anything of that ilk.

I hear Suicide Note Part II is featuring in Episode 8.

Is this just one of those things you say to get my hopes up or is that an actual fact that might be verified with a link of some kind?

Episode 7 is to be called the substitute, but there is no other information about either episode 6 or anything beyond episode 7
However, Ryan just told us that he wants to do an episode built around someone "no one would suspect."

    Could be, could be Pantera
