Replacing timing chain on an Ibiza(04-05)

    Hi just wondering when the chain needs changing and ho much would it usually cost?

    Chains aren't usually a service item and only need replacing if they start to rattle excessively which is a sign of wear.

    while in theory the timing chain shouldn't have to be changed there was/is a problem with some Ibiza's of that generation.

    My 03 ibiza at around 70k miles had a failed tensioner and this caused the chain to slip. Luckily enough no engine damage but did have a nice repair bill of over €700 between towing, new tensioner and new chain etc ...

    Looking online it seems to be a common problem at around the 70k mark

    Be sure to keep up with your oil changes to prolong the life of the chain.
