    Supertroopers.

I've seen a critic call it cinematic garbage (or something close) but it is in fact a brilliant irreverant comedy.

    History of Violence.

Critics fawned over it. I thought it was boring, the only good bits were the violence - the dialogue felt like it was lifted straight out of the graphic novel, might read well on the page but felt horribly forced for the most part. Also - that cheerleader sex scene? Hilariously bad.

(two of my all time favourites)

    FREDDY GOT FINGERED
"This movie doesn't scrape the bottom of the barrel. This movie isn't the bottom of the barrel. This movie isn't below the bottom of the barrel. This movie doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence with barrels...The day may come when Freddy Got Fingered is seen as a milestone of neo-surrealism. The day may never come when it is seen as funny." - Roger Ebert

    THE ROOM
"a self-distributed directorial debut so hopelessly amateurish that auds reportedly walked out during its two-week run in July 2003" - Variety

You don't mess with the Zohan is a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned, hysterically funny from start to finish,Sandler nails it and I'm by no means a fan of his comedies...for some reason I'm yet to meet anyone who actually agrees with me though :)

    Well, that's different. Truly, different.

I can't blame the reviewer, they just weren't a true Roomie.

GI Joe has 25% among top critics over at Rotten Tomatoes but I don't know, I liked it for what it was. A flashy action flick that kept you entertained all the while having a reasonable cast. I never went to see it with the expectation of being mentally stimulated.

There are plenty of films that I detest that critics loved, too many to mention.

I think that Roger Ebert review for Freddy Got Fingered is one of the funniest things I've ever read.
The Room is just true win.In fact it's Wiseau! (A win and subsequent fail at the same time)

I'd agree with alot of what has been posted

Boondock Saints, an excellent movie. The sequel is quite good as well but not a patch on the first.
Dont Mess With The Zohan - comedy genius
Freddy Got Fingered - This just took movies to a new extreme
SuperTroopers/Beerfest/Club Dread - the Broken Lizard make some really good movies, just because they may not have an appeal for all audiencies doesnt make them bad movies.
Staten Island - a damn fine movie with a great story

There are plenty of others that i cant think of right now

Empire gave Taken a 1-star review. I enjoyed it.

Critics and the Academy fawned over and feted No Country for Old Men. I didn't really enjoy it.
    I was waiting for the
    cliched ending which never came.

I always had a soft spot for Cobra, despite getting generally panned across the board by critics. Harmless nonsense with some decent action scenes in it.

I've mentioned the Wachowski Brothers' Bound (1996) before - critics loved it, I walked out halfway. If it shows on TV I'll give it another chance, I suppose.

I don't always look at reviews before seeing a film, so I thought I would look at the Metacritic All-Time Low Scores list for ideas. I didn't think Showgirls was that bad, though I can't remember particularly liking it, and the same for Harlem Nights, the Eddie Murphy / Richard Pryor comedy. 8MM is on the list, a film that I admired but didn't like due to its theme. I quite liked Jersey Girl, the Kevin Smith comedy, but Ben Affleck was "box-office poison" due to Gigli.

Two films where I'm definitely at odds with the critics:
    - Hudson Hawk: Bruce Willis & Danny Ailello's crime caper. Not a masterpiece, but I thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was.
    - Jackass: The Movie. If you know a little about the history of art in the 20th century, there's a place for the Jackass crew alongside the Surrealists, Dadaists, Situationists, and others who challenge the accepted "normal". Talk about "leaving it all on the screen": they did that all right. I haven't seen the "Number Two" yet. :pac:

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

Death Proof would be another one that I enjoyed even though it was slated by the critics. The only annoying thing about it was the dialogue, and the ****ty characters that were
Stuntman Mike's first group of victims.
    ;)

Because it's actually a very bad movie.

    Last Action Hero.

It was savaged by critics on release (felt like they had to take Arnie down a peg or two ) and had the misfortune of conflicting with Jurassic Park when released but it's a very entertaining film.

Two words.. Titantic and Avatar.. both pieces of over hyped, over reviewed nonsense.

The Diving Bell & The Butterfly - critics creamed themselves over this. I just found it boring.
I Am Legend - Don't remember anyone giving this more than 3 stars. I loved it.

Critics gave Extract decent reviews 6.5/10 on imdb.I found it mind numbing, meant to be a comedy:confused:

I love all of these except for Staten Island which I've never seen. Freddy Got Fingered is the best of the lot, my favourite part is where Gords dad says "Ohhhhh, look honey, our boy's a genius! He's rigged a pulley system so he can eat sausage and work on his stupid drawings."

Others that I'd like to add are Gone in 60 Seconds, The Village and Armageddon.

On the films that critics rage about but I don't like are:
2001: A Space Odyssey - I really wanted to like it but it was rubbish.
The Hurt Locker - Overrated & hyped beyond belief.
Princess Monokoke - The less said about it the better.
Blair Witch Project - Annoying Students in the woods, I wish it was real just to shut them up.
Paranormal Activity - Disneyland was scarier.

Probably lots more but cant think of them now

I thought it was pretty funny myself. Kinda like an action version of Purple Rose of Cairo.

Woody Allen movies-the critics fawn over him and idolise his movies but I hate them with a passion, whats his fixation with neurotic people? They're obligatory in his movies.
