    ...Is very bloody annoying.

Had a call over the weekend from a guy who wished to view my car in Tipp.

I made arrangements yesterday to meet today, drove down from Dublin, got the car out spent a few hours cleaning it and then waited for 11 o'clock to arrive this morning.

At 12 I decided to call and find out if he was coming. He then proceeded to tell me he forgot, I told him I came from Dublin and remembered.

He then told me he would meet me some other day when it suited...............I lost the cool a bit and said no and that he should stop wasting peoples time and that he could keep dream on about owning the car I'm selling.

I was told to relax......he was told to piss off

Probably should have rang him before you left to confirm he would be there?

from the other side i requested to meet someone selling a car. She would not budge from meeting at her house.even though i dont have a car to drive to her and a taxi would cost a fortune. She lost herself my business.

Unfortunately time wasters are part of selling a car privately :(

Too true, it happens every time I sell a car.

The best was someone who agreed to buy the car and drove into town to get the money only never to be seen again.

    I think I just needed a rant!

Driving a car to meet someone seems reasonable enough to me, I've done it a number of times.

Its goes both ways I suppose.

I have a car that i want to sell at the moment, think i'll stay away from the hassle of privately selling it and go around a few dealers to see what they'l give me for it

Best I could do was offer to meet her halfway.(a 10-15minute drive) and no dice. ah well, it was a nice car too :(

I wouldn't let it put you off. Throw it up on the internet with a good description, pictures and contact details and it may sell.

If I were you I'd give it a time limit to sell before going to garages, something like 2 -3 weeks.

I took it to Merlin today, and the guy said he'd give me €500 max(without having seen the car), 98 Mitsubishi Mirage ASTI coupe (jap import) NCT till 2012, does that sound like to little?

It sounds ok to me but I'm no expert.

If I were you I'd throw it up on the net for 900 and whatever you make above 500 is a bonus.
