How to become an Art teacher

    Hi

I have my Art degree from LSAD (Limerick IT) specialising in Print Making. I applied to Cork and Limerick last year to do my dip for teaching art but was unsuccessful so spent this year doing work experience in a secondary school for the full year for 3 days a weeks. Near the end of the year I even did some subbing and supervision work, but very unfortunately I was yet again unsuccessful in getting my place on the Art Teaching Dip courses in Cork or Limerick. I am waiting to hear from NCAD but not holding my breath.

What can I do now? Should I be applying for the general H Dip also in UCG, Trinity, Maynooth, UCD, etc?

Am I too late to register to a Masters now? Am I too late for all Dips for this September?

Please help me - so frustrated. I really want to teach Art. Should I look to go to the UK for my Dip?

I will seek feedback - last year it was that I didn't have enough experience, some friends of mine have been told that they are not doing enough of their own art work???? Very hard when you are trying to build up a portfolio and work for nothing in schools and hold down part-time jobs to keep yourself going.

    All advice gratefully accepted.:)

    Many thanks

    M
