    hi all,

    sorry for the silly questions...

have just put up a small philex aerial to get dtt on my lg tv. it works fine in good weather, but is poor at times. i want to bring the cable from the aerial on the roof into the attic and split it 4 ways, with one long run of about 20m,the other 3 only about 5m from splitter. what masthead amplifier should i install? is a small metal 4 way splitter good enough? is a good sat cable correct for this job?

    many thanks.

Depending on where you are and if the aerial is pointed to the transmitter properly on the roof, you shouldn't need a masthead amp...thats if it's just irish dtt you are after.
All you'll need is a distribution amplifier.

So Sat grade cable down to one of these and use f connectors on the 4 cable runs to the rooms and on the main aerial feed in.

Then just put a plug on the end of the cables at the tv's and bobs your uncle.

Tell us your location by the way and we'll advise as to aerial type and transmitter.
If you have the correct uhf aerial already on the roof, then you just need to make sure its pointed correctly to the transmitter.

    cheers,
already have the dtt signal, just copied neighbours...
just tweeked it today, all working well. will get a 4 way distribution amp later today, might have one somewhere...if i can find it...
have tv3 on lcd on analogue, presume the old crt will be easier to fine tune analogue? as its only really needed on the crt tv.
    thanks.

didnt see this thread earlier so apologies for posting something similar in a post. but like the OP i too was considering something similiar. i would get my reception from cairn hill but signal is poor in tullamore seemingly. could i use http://cpcireland.farnell.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?sku=AP00063 instead of masthead amp and the 4 way amp that Black Briar recommended?

one of these would be cheaper http://tvtrade.ie/show/57,UHF-Contract-aerial---Group-B-yellow
