anyone ever taken stuff off their Sky + box before ?

mate has a box with a program he wants off it (its not a film its a documentary) ...

but his sky supscription is cancelled, it was played on TV3, but from what i am reading, its only content that isnt copyright and broadcast on the free to air channels that i might be able to extract (TV3 is part of the Irish subscription)

or is there a way I can play it from the box to save it through a DVD-RW playereven with the subscription gone and now satellite plugger in ?

not familiar with Sky+ at all so feel free to slate over stupid questions haha:pac:

nope . you need a sub to access the recordings.

you could use copy + to transfer the program to a hard drive in another machine that has a valid sub.

.. although this will mean opening 2 boxes.

...or, how about inserting a Sky card from a friend with an active subscription?

Some channels need the Sky card to be paired to the box - I'm not sure if this is the case with TV3. Worth checking though. If it did work, you could play the programme back and record it onto a DVD recorder or similar device.

There is no way to extract the recordings from the hard drive of the Sky+ box directly as they are encrypted.
