I've already been using it for over a week. ;) Seems the final version is the same build as well.

installed the new os on my almost 2 year old 3G last night, jesus it took a seriously long time and being honest the only difference for me is and its a welcome difference is folders.

if anything my phone has slowed down and is less responsive.

i will get the new 4 when its released here next month but i wouldn't be surprised to see this pushed out till august with the way demand has gone elsewhere.

Yeah, screen shortages are going to cause a lot of delays as well. Apple are making 2 million iPhone 4s a month, versus the 4 million they had planned. Unless these reports are inaccurate or Apple find a quick solution, there's no hope of us getting it in July. More like late August/early September - at least.

However, my 3GS is handling iOS 4 really well, so - barring any accidents - I'll probably wait until the next gen to upgrade.

The new iBooks app is a dog though. Very slow and clunky to use. I hope the iPad version isn't like this.

    Hi Prof

iPad books app works perfectly i noticed on my 3G that it nearly not worth opening. My kindle app works fine on the 3G and is even better on the iPad.

I hope when they introduce ios4 to the iPad that it doesnt have the same effect its having on my phone.

It seems there's been a lot of 3G problems, alright. Hopefully a fix is forthcoming and it's not just down to the 3G not being able to handle it. If anything, my 3GS is faster since upgrading to iOS 4.

Good hear about iBooks on the iPad. I'm sure the iPad will be well able for iOS 4. Apple took the extra time so they could get it right.

I've heard a lot of people complain that iTunes took ages to backup their iPhone before installing the update. Did you have this problem?

It was strange last night with the upgrade.

Considering my phone is in the dock when I'm working all day therefore it's backed up every day it took something like 2 hours from start to finish. The back up took the majority of this time.

I'm like you my machine is up to date software wise all the time so I can't understand the amount of time last night.

Is backing up the same as syncing? Because I'm pretty sure mine just did a regular sync (about 30 seconds) and installed the update. Restoring took the most time. I don't understand all the backup problems. I assumed people had automatic syncing turned off or something.

When I sync my phone the first thing it does is backup then it syncs... It can take me 2 minutes to do a sync.

When you think about it if you restore your phone it takes the last backup which is from your last sync

Mine was very quick to do the whole process, even on a 3G. Definitely quicker, even after the jailbreak. I have most of the features now like the background, multitasking etc, and they work fine.

just noticed on the UK apple site that shipment will be before 14th July, looks like we will be pushed back...... Oh well better than going to Belfast and paying 499.00 stg for a 16gb:confused::confused:

multitasking kills battery on ios4 3gs models, everything you open an pp make sure you end it or battery juice will go down like a stopwatch. alot of apps dont work it!
