Got a quote today to change the swirl flaps on my bmw320cd that i just bought.

I was told it would cost about 240 euro + about 50 euro for the blanks.

Does anyone know if this is good value or not as i thought it was a fairly straight forward procedure and would be a bit cheaper.

There is not alot involved in doing the swirlflaps. I think an hour should do it easily.... Thats 2 hours labour at the dealer so. It looks pretty straight forward with no special tools or knowledge needed.

so do you think 290 in total is a bit too much- how much is an hours labour typically

Lots of how to's on this job on the net.

The blanks are not needed either a 6mm self tapper and some epoxy in the tops of the de flapped units will do.

Seems like a worthwile job as broken flaps will destroy the engine.

Personally I would prefer to use the blanks. They are a substantial piece of metal & no danger of any future breakup.

i saw that pdf alright but i would not trust myself to carry it out properly so was thinkin of gettin a mechanic to do it but that price seems a bit over the top as there does not seem to be much involved.
