Am I right in thinking that a P45 is just a statement of earnings? I got a P45 from my previous employer but had to use it for something so no longer have it. I now need it again! Can I ring revenue to send me out a statement of earnings? Is this the same as a P45?

    Hi

A P45 is a statement from your previous employer of the gross pay, tax and PRSI deducted in the course of your employment.

If your previous employer has submitted this to the revenue as he should do, then you may be able to find out the information. If he has not yet submitted it, then the revenue will not be able to give you this information as it will be incomplete.

Can you try and get a duplicate from your previous employer or try and get it back from whatever you used it for?

    Kind Regards

Don't fancy my chances getting it back to be honest! Gave it to the council for a college grant last August. Is there anything else that will do the same job as a P45?

    Thanks for you help dbran!

If it was last August then it relates to the 2009 tax year. You can request a P21 from revenue and that will give a statement of your earnings for the year 2009.

If you have not been in employment yet this year, then you do not need a P45 for anything.
