We are a group of 8 (Men) playing Mount Juliet next week and are looking for a good spot for Grub at about 7 pm , either near Mount Juliet or else on the road to Dublin , I assume that Mount Juliet will be pricey and are looking for good food/value,any suggestions ?
    Many Thanks

The bar food is not that expensive in Mount Juliet also just outside Thomastown the Long Man of Kilfane pub is also decent and reasonable.

Played there with friends last year. Spent quite a while in the bar after. Felt a bit like an old, welcoming, country pub. We all felt like locals. Capped off a lovely day. Highly recommended. :)

There'sa nice restaurant in Thomastown called cafe Sol, good, reasonably priced food. Club house is ok as well.

    What day are you playing?

There is a 2 Course Special available in the Presidents Bar, great value at €16.95, but I would need to check dates for you!

Let us know and we will do our best for you.

Just getting back to you on this.

Out Presidents Bar Special Menu ends at 6pm unfortunately ... perhaps you can get a quick back 9 and get in before it finishes for the evening. That's Main Course and Dessert with tea/coffee for €16 which is great value.

If you wish to eat at Mount Juliet, Kendals Restaurant has an early bird menu between 6-7pm at €25 and includes a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts.

If you want to book you can do so when you arrive at Mount Juliet or you can pre book on 056 777 3073 / 056 777 3010.

Enjoy your game on Tuesday. The forecast looks decent ... sunny spells with a light breeze!

Ah come on!! Surely you can pull a few strings and squeeze 8 lads in. Chance for the club to make a good bit of money from lads who could easily pop down the road elsewhere!!

For those that are interested here is an update:
It was great to get pro Customer mails from both Cafe Sol and Mount Juliet both offering good value plus a warm welcome.
It's good to get a contradiction that all there is out there is "Rip Off Ireland " and there are businesses trying hard to get your custom.
In the end we had a good "full Irish " in the Longman Pub on the way to Mount Juliet and eat in The Presidents Bar afterwards, both highly recommended for quality/service and value !.
    Golf at Mount Juliet :
As soon as you enter the Mount Juliet Estate you realise that you are in a special place that is a great antidote for these stressful times.
The wonderful Golf Course was presented in superb condition and couldn't have looked better.
We were there on the South East Voucher offer, Mount Juliet/Faithlegg + Waterford Castle for €123 ,superb value?.
We had lost three of our eight vouchers (Purchased in February) and these were replaced without quibble in a friendly efficient way.
All in all we had a great day which we would highly recommend.
Mount Juliet is a really special place but what makes it really exceptional is the magnificent staff .
    Go and enjoy !

I would like to concur with everything written her about MJ.

We had a family get together there a few years ago (off peak season) and I have played a number of times as well. The golf course is fantastic but it is true to say that if you went for "just golf" then other courses like Headfort New, Killeen Castle, Concra Wood are just as good if not even better.

however with Mount Juliet you get a Je ne sais quoi(sp) that I havent experienced anywhere in the country. You feel special and, of course, to experience that fully you need to extend the stay around the place as much as posible and that includes eating in the bar / restaurant.

Also, i must say that the staff are all very friendly and excellent. Hope to hit there again sometime this summer.

We hope you enjoyed your afternoon at Mount Juliet (sorry for the delay in getting back to replying as this is our first day back on boards.ie)

The 3 Club pass is indeed a great idea and hopefully you will enjoy your time at Waterford and Faithlegg which are also great courses.

Many Thanks zzantara and dixiefly for your very kind comments - I will pass them on to the relevant departments.

Yep, that about sums up the joy of Mount Juliet. Can't say enough about the hospitality and overall experience.

Might have a look at Mount Juliet this summer, sounds great. Though there'd have to be something to distract herself while I was off playing golf!

There's a spa there, so shouldn't be too hard.

I live next door to the place, so if you want to palm her of shopping with my misses, then I can accompany you over 18 holes plus a few well deserved beverages ;)
