Is anyone else having Sky rececption problems in the Kildare or Nebwridge areas.
I have the basic Sky box (not Sky+) and the rececption for the last week or so keeps breaking up, like the intermittent reception you get in really bad weather, sometimes when watching the world cup (on diff channels)
for example it said connection lost, turn off your sky box for five mins
and repower it but it was off overnight and it is still the same.

    Hugely frustrating.

Was just wondering was anyone else experiencing same before I call them.

I'm in Dublin, been getting this non stop recently, at least every 15 mins or so.

Ha, and as I type this, there is goes: "Unplug for 5 minutes", blah blah.

    Switching to UPC soon.

    Possible causes are:
    • your dish is out of alignment
    • a tree is growing and blocking the signal
    • loose or damaged cabling from the dish to the box
Also, satellite is not like cable or terrestrial TV. Areas (such as Newbridge or anywhere else) don't get affected by satellite signal issues as the satellite sending you the signal is in orbit above the earth.

I identified this as the problem earlier on. The sky dish is sitting about 10 feet off the ground and a tree is blocking it, signal goes crazy when it blows in the wind.

When I mentioned I was going out to cut the top off the tree in the back garden, my mother was not impressed.

    Pruning may do the job.

There was a similar thread a few weeks ago and I posted on it having experienced similar problems. Turned out to be my LNB that needed to be replaced. Gave Sky some grief and managed to get it done for free too :D
