    Hi,
I am about to move to citywest, co dublin (dublin 24) and I need to commute to churchtown each day before 8am

Because I still don't have a full driving license. I need to explore public transport possibilities.

    1. Anyone know how long does it take for a 75 BUS (from square) to get there on the morning??

    2. How long does it take 65b to get to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=53.311834,-6.275389&num=1&sll=53.2897,-6.2675&sspn=0.013341,0.032015&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=53.313057,-6.273966&spn=0.019153,0.034461&z=15 ??

    3. Any other recommendations?

At that time of day, the 75 will take about 30 minutes from Nutgrove to the Square. Don't forget you can also get the 50 from Tallaght to Citywest as well or the 16/16A to Terenure and the 65B from there.

    75 to Nutgrove Shopping Centre
The 0705 departure from the Square will get there for 0735 or so.
The 0720 departure from the Square will get there for between 0750 and 0755.

    65b to Rathgar
The 65b would take roughly 40/45 minutes to get to Rathgar from Citywest.

The 0645 route 50 departure from Citywest would connect the 0705 75.

Another option would be the 65b to Terenure and then either 16a or 17 to Nutgrove.

Might you consider somewhere closed to the city that doesn't involve connecting buses? Even somewhere the city side of The Square would be better. Bus connections from Tallaght to Rathgar / Nutgrove aren't the best, nevermind connecting.
It can vary a lot due to congestion at Terenure Cross.

I'm not sure where you get that impression Victor -the 75 is very reliable and will generally always take 30 mins or so for the trip.

It's every 15/20 minutes in the morning peak and every 30 minutes right through the day.

While the 75 might nominally be reliable, its the only route you have, unless you want to go through Terenure, which is an utter pain. In some locations, it suffers from a lack of priorty, although that has improved.

At least the OP is getting off before the Ballinteer loop. :)

Do you have to move to Citywest? There's no shortage of cheap accommodation nearer to Nutgrove and a lot easier to get to.

And what's wrong with the Ballinteer loop?

Given a lot of people get on/off along that stretch in both directions I would think it's a fairly important part of the route!!

I live by city west and use the 50 every morning. The 65b and 50 are usually reliable before 7:30 and take about 20 minutes to get to the square. If you want to get to churchtown before 8 you'll have to get a bus at citywest before 7.

But don't overlook coming home as those buses are not great in the evenings. With the cuts last year they reduced the 50 to about once an hour in the evening and the 65b is 45 mins I think. I have to leave work at 5 on the dot to catch the 5:05 bus as the next one isn't until just before 6. They removed the 5:30 bus last year. So you could find yourself spening a lot of evenings standing at the square.

Of course you can always get the 77 to bring you up most of the way but that can lead to a whole lot of other problems. :)

The 75 bus usually takes about 35/40 minutes from Dun Laoghaire to Nutgrove, but allow potentially 5/10 minutes over that in peak hour. Those buses that operate via Sandyford Industrial Estate (1630, 1725 and 1750) can take up to an additional 10 minutes on top of that.
